Gustav Holst (1874-1934)

Program Notes

About the Work...

As a high school student, I discovered the music of Gustav Holst. His music is moving, energetic, and full of rich and exotic harmonies. In 1930, Holst composed a masterful piece titled "Hammersmith," named after the city he had known for over 40 years.

Remembering Hammersmith is not an arrangement of Gustav Holst's Hammersmith. It is an original composition influenced by his "Hammersmith" and was composed for my younger students
